Director of Educational Programming
O’Kawai Kin (they/them) is an educator, Council facilitator, and artist. O’Kawai has taught Council at Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences and New Roads School in Santa Monica, California. Currently they are the Director of Educational Programming at the Ojai Foundation/Topa Institute.
For over a decade, O’Kawai has been teaching and facilitating Council circles in schools, professional development settings, and with “At Risk Youth” outreach programs. O’Kawai has a strong desire to teach Council in prison and juvenile hall settings, as well as with sports teams of all ages. Their dream is to bring the Council practice all over the world.
O’Kawai is passionate about the practice of authentic communication as a path to deeper relationships, greater social understanding, and a more peaceful world. They believe in the power of storytelling and the utilization of Council in daily life.
