TOF -Fire Update #7 – A message from the Board of Directors

Recovery and Reimagining: Words from our Co-Directors from The Ojai Foundation on Vimeo.

Dear friend of The Ojai Foundation,

Today we invite you to thank Co-Directors Sharon Shay Sloan and Brendan Clarke. Shay and Brendan moved to The Ojai Foundation from northern California, five short weeks before the Thomas Fire hit.  As the fire was fast approaching the ridge, side by side with our remaining staff, they worked to care for trees and structures and removing boxes of archives and records from our offices, selflessly putting the property of The Ojai Foundation before their own. Ironically although the offices were unscathed by the blaze, all of their personal belongings – still in boxes stacked high in the Sage House Staff Residence – went up in smoke.  From that fateful evening on we have been so deeply moved by their profound commitment to the land and mission, and so very grateful for the leadership, wisdom and tireless effort they have brought to our community. Read more about their backgrounds and experience HERE.

On the fundraising front, our RECOVER & REIMAGINE Campaign is coming to a completion in ten days and we are very close to reaching our $600,000 goal. Thank you all for your trust in us and your commitment to TOF. Your support means so much to so many of us who want to see the Foundation thrive again.  Our success so far is a testament to the far-reaching impact of the work, the practices, and the place that lives so strongly in hearts around the world.  But we are not yet done. If you have been touched, changed or inspired by The Ojai Foundation, and if you have not done so already, we ask that you consider contributing today?

We have ten more days to reach our campaign goal.
Please help get us all the way there.
All gifts, large or small, count!

And if you are unable to make a financial gift, we hope you will consider attending a Day of Service – a fun and meaningful way to contribute and participate in our recovery.

Thank you so much for staying in the circle.

With Gratitude,
Laura Whitney and David Bryan,
