The inspiration for The FIRE Fellowship (FIRE stands for Foundations in Resilience Education) arose quite literally out of the ashes of the Thomas Fire at The Ojai Foundation, and later through partnership with Youth Passageways, as a network organization born out of the fires of cross-cultural conflict and collaboration. In this time of COVID-19, resilience is needed more than ever; so too are communities and individuals able to respond to changing needs and circumstances. The FIRE Fellowship is helping emerging young leaders do exactly that. FIRE is resilience in action! Please take part in this important effort, and make a gift today. #ICYMI If you are not signed up to receive our e-n #ICYMI If you are not signed up to receive our e-news, you missed this important announcement from the Executive Stewardship Circle regarding upcoming events, as well as the planned reopening of The Ojai Foundation, which have all been postponed: Dear Ones, Less than two weeks ago, we stood on the Council House patio, gazing at the nearby hills and distant peaks, dusted with the green of spring and the pink of sunset. We were eagerly giving shape to the coming Spring Equinox Public Welcome–our first public welcoming since the Thomas Fire in December 2017. As we all know, the next days brought news of a mysterious health threat that we have since all come to know as the Coronavirus. Small and far away at first, the last days have offered a profound reminder that ‘far away’ is just over the next hill; we are one world. In keeping with the advice offered by the responsible health agencies and institutions, and with our deep care for you and the members of our community, we have chosen to postpone our planned public return to the land, both for the public welcome and also for public visiting hours. This also includes a cancellation of our scheduled day of service. After more than two years of momentum, this is an unforeseen setback, as we were so looking forward to our collective return, complete with a walk on the land, a shared meal, a council under the beloved Teaching Tree, and more. Nevertheless, we know it is important to continue exercising patience, and to do our part to support the well-being of the whole. In the meantime, we will keep you all posted, and look for a time again to welcome the public to the land. We hope that time will be soon. Please watch your inbox and our website for news of our future plan. Until that time, please be safe and care-filled and we will continue to look forward to the coming opportunity to celebrate our collective return to the land.
